The Halymah Ibrahim Babangida Foundation has engaged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State Chapter, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships that promote education, peace, and social development across the state.
The engagement, which took place on Wednesday, 14th January 2026 during a courtesy visit to the CAN Secretariat in Minna as part of the Foundation’s 2026 Legacy Week, was aimed at formally introducing the Foundation, fostering dialogue, and exploring areas of collaboration with faith-based institutions.
Speaking during the visit, representatives of the Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to education as a key driver of societal development, while emphasizing that terrorism has no religious identity and also reaffirmed its belief in education as a critical driver of societal development. Discussions also highlighted the role of education in addressing misinformation, miseducation, and violence within communities.
In a show of solidarity and shared purpose, the Foundation awarded scholarships to 20 Reverend Fathers, while pledging to strengthen collaboration with CAN to support vulnerable populations through education-focused initiatives.
During the engagement, representatives of the Foundation emphasized that partnerships with faith-based organizations remain essential for effectively reaching communities and promoting unity, peace, and inclusive development.
As part of the partnership, the Foundation awarded scholarships to 20 Reverend Fathers and expressed its readiness to work closely with CAN on education-focused and community-based initiatives.
